A little update on the issue of restaurant mark ups on wine: I read in Marie Claire's recent "<a href="http://www.marieclaire.com/life/healthy/health-tips/how-to-read-a-wine-list" rel="nofollow">Smart Girl's Guide to Ordering Wine with Dinner</a>" that restaurants will increase the price on more recognizable labels by even more -- sometimes three or four times more! -- than the benchmark 100 percent, figuring that panicky novices will just go with a name they've seen before.

Great post on Rose!
I've always been a fan...if the summers in San Francisco were warmer...I'd probably enjoy rose more often. So I usually stock up on a few bottles of rose for our late SF Summers.
Believe it or not, a bottle of rose and a bottle of Chateaunuf-du Pape are my Thanksgiving dinner standards.
I like high acid, low alchohol, French Rose with food...my favorite: Domaine des Corbillieres Touraine. The California Rose are good, very fruit foward, but often heavy on alcohol and price. Vision Wine Cellars, however, has an outstanding Rose (2007).

Rosefully Yours

Okay! I am sold. I am going to have more rosé this summer. I can't wait. I will start with the 4th of July. Thank you for your righteous indignation. It's hard to believe that L.A. is still so full of wine Phillistines.
